Shirdi: In a shocking incident of brutal casteism prevalent in India, a Dalit youth was brutally thrashed to death in the temple town of Shirdi in Maharashtra for keeping a song of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar as the ringtone of his phone.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Vivek Patel, the victim named as Sagar Shejwal was thrashed by eight youths at a shop after they heard a song of Bhimrao Ambedkar being played as the victim’s ringtone.
The youths from dominant Maratha and OBC community beat Sagar and took him to a forest where they repetedly mowed him by their bikes.
Relatives of Sagar alleged that although the police station is at a distance of stone throw, the cops did not appear on the scene after being informed.
Later police made four arrests based on the complaints while the other culprits are still absconding
