Cong calls for a Bandh at Howrah on Wed

Kolkata: On the incident of Arup Bhandari’s death, the Congress has called for a strike at Howrah on Wednesday. The Bandh will take place for 12 hours. Already the Congress has started off with their protest throughout the State. Congress leader, Adhir Chowdhury was denied entrance at the locality of the youth on Monday.

CPIM Chairman, Biman Basu had also held the view that tremendous pandemonium is going on around the state. The oppositions of the State Govt has taken the same route towards criticizing the role of the rulling party and its leaders.

A few days ago we had covered the news of a boy who protested against eve-teasing and was seriously beaten up at Salkia. His condition was fatal and he was in coma for the last few days.

Unfortunately, the boy lost his battle against death and died in the early hours of Monday. He was in coma for the last five days. Although a complaint has been lodged against the rogues who had fatally beaten up the boy, none of them have been arrested yet. According to the police, a few of them have escaped to other provinces.

Arup Bhandari , a resident of Howrah, protested against eve teasing at the Hrishikesh Bose lane in Howrah. He was tortured by the eve teasers on the spot. Arup was admitted at a local hospital. Then he was transferred to a nursing home at Kolkata where he died. His dead body has been take to the Medical College for post mortem.To raise a voice against the eve teasers, the locals of his area have taken the streets to protest against the heinous crime.

Arup Biswas, an eminent Minister of the state has visited the family members of Arup Bhandari and expressed his heartfelt condolence. On the other hand,Congress leader Abdul Mannan has hurled at Mamata regarding the sad issue by saying that the CM has been passive, her government has not acted in the active way. It is a pity that the gang is still escaping. Police has not been able to play a dominant role.
