Sana: Inflicting another major damage on the Saudi forces, Yemeni troops loyal to Ansarullah reportedly shot down a Saudi Arabian military helicopter in the country’s southern territory.
Yemen’s al-Masirah TV said Friday that the helicopter was downed in al-Khobah district of Jizan Province, on the Yemeni-Saudi border.
The Apache chopper was targeted by a surface-to-air missile. The Yemenis have used such projectiles over the past few months to retaliate against Saudi Arabia’s all-out air campaign.
Al-Masirah said that a rocket attack was also launched on a gathering of Saudi forces in al-Ma’zab region of the southern province of Najran, with no reports yet of the potential casualties.
Earlier in the day, the allied Yemeni forces targeted other military positions in the two southern Saudi provinces, with reports saying that they destroyed a number of armored vehicles and tanks.
The attacks came as Saudi warplanes continued pounding residential areas in northern Yemen with Al-Masirah saying that more than 90 rockets landed on al-Fara’ and al-Ghama’ in Kitaf region, in the northern province of Sa’ada.
Yemeni sources also said that death toll from the extensive Saudi attacks on the southwestern city of Ta’izz has increased to 43. The attacks, which began on Thursday, have also left 50 people injured.
