Yechury criticizes PMs foreign tours, says FDI has gone down

Kozhikode: CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury has criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign tours saying that his main goal was to draw Foreign Direct Investment(FDI) into the country but he has failed in his goal saying that the investment flow in the country has declined.

Speaking to reporters at Kozhikode, he said, “The central theme of all his (Modi’s) visits is to attract foreign investments – to invite NRIs to invest in India. Despite all his efforts FDI has decreased, FII flow declined.”

He said that in spite of the Centre’s claims of improving economic situation, the ground reality was different.
Charging the NDA Government with pursuing “anti-India” and “anti-people” policies of the BJP, he said the Left would take the support of all political parties to fight against it.
