Woman Set Ablaze & Killed In Murshidabad


Murshidabad: A woman was set ablaze allegedly by her in-laws in Murshidabad on Sunday.

The incident took place at Dhamali para village under the Khargram police station in Murshidabad. The deceased woman’s name is Kebera Bibi (28). Her husband’s name is Minarul Sekh and they both has 3 sons and a 10 year old daughter.

The woman’s maiden home is at Solpara village. Her husband stays in Saudi Arab due to his work. A few days ago, he had sent some money to his wife. Problem arose with that money and quarrel began with her in laws. It has been alleged that the quarrel led them to beat her up.

On Saturday night, her in-laws had poured kerosene oil on her and then set her on fire. She was rescued and taken to the Kandi Sub-divisional Hospital. But she later on succumbed to her injuries and died. Her daughter accused her uncles Kalam Sekh, Alam Sekh, her grandmother Amina Beowa and her aunt Naija Bibi and Jenehar Bibi of killing her mother. The woman’s brother Dalu Sekh has filed a written complaint against them at the Khargram police station.
