Woman charged for posting ‘sexual assault’ video in FB


Ottawa: Ottawa police have arrested one woman and say they are looking for at least two more suspects for charges of posting a sexual assault video on Facebook. Within whiskers, the video was said to have been gone viral in the net. Police said they were contacted by a member of the city’s Congolese community about the assault, which happened in early July, and the video.

The video shows the victim in a bathroom, being interrogated by another woman who accuses her of having sex with her boyfriend.The video then shows the victim being pinned down by several women and then sexually assaulted with various objects. The attackers speak in Lingala, a Bantu language spoken in both Congo-Kinshasa and Congo-Brazzaville.

Police did not specify which of the two African countries the community members involved were originally from. CBC Ottawa reporters have seen parts of the video, as have police.
