Kolkata: A woman worker at the Indian Museum in Kolkata was brutally beaten by other woman workers after she complained of sexual harassment by a senior museum official.
The woman alleged that on the day of the incident, she was stopped from entering the office, after which she was thrashed. While attacking her, the accused asked her why she had lodged a complaint of sexual harassment against the aforementioned staff member.
The woman, a former history teacher with a reputed school in the city, said that the Internal Complaints Committee of the museum did not take up the issue promptly and delayed the process after her complaint.
The victim has lodged a complaint about the alleged assault on her with the New Market Police.
The accused have denied all allegations of the assault and said that the CCTV footage should be scanned to verify the truth.
