With Championship in focus, MB gears up for next match


KOLKATA: After a day break following the away encounter against Royal Wahingdoh, McDowell’s Mohun Bagan had a gym session on Monday followed by a couple of days’ training at the club ground. On both Tuesday and Wednesday, Chief Coach Sanjoy Sen stressed on defensive organization of the squad and situation practice. In fact, at the end of the training on Tuesday, he separately had a on-field session with the defenders.

During Wednesday’s training, Bikramjit Singh did play some part of the game and will be traveling to Pune for 3 consecutive away games. There were also some set-piece training and shooting practice on both days, apart from the regular physical training schedule under Physical Trainer Djair de Miranda Garcia.After the morning training session at the club ground on Thursday, Mariners will be leaving for Pune via evening flight.

Currently, Mohun Bagan is comfortably placed at the top with 28 points from 13 games, followed by Royal Wahingdoh FC (26 points from 16 games), Bengaluru FC (25 points from 14 games), East Bengal (23 points from 14 games) and Pune FC (23 points from 15 games).
