The city recorded the mercury at 14.5 on Sunday which is one degree below the normal. According to the Met department sources, the temperatures are likely to dip further with depression forming in Bay of Bengal. The temperatures could go down to about 12 degrees in upcoming days.
Kolkata and Bengal experienced rainfall during mid December due to the depression in Bay of Bengal which led to the drop in mercury across the state. The doctors believe that lower temperatures will lessen dengue threats since mosquitoes will find it difficult to survive.
