New Delhi: Winter session of Parliament begins, Prime Minister says government is open for debate on every issue in Parliament, asserts debate and dialogue are the soul of Parliament. The winter session of parliament began amidst government’s efforts to ensure that it remains a productive one.
Addressing news persons before the session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that he expects Parliament to shine with best thoughts, best discussions and best innovative ideas during the Winter session which is beginning a short while from now.
He added that there is no bigger centre for Samvad than the Parliament. He also expressed confidence that all MPs will leave no stone unturned to match upto expectations of people of nation. The prime minister also said that Debate, Discussion & Conversation is the soul of our Parliament.
The Government has 38 bills as part of its legislative business that need to pass through Parliament. Apart from the GST bill, there are the Lokpal and Lokayukta bill, Whistle-blowers protection, Land Acquisition amendment bill among others.
The lower house observed a minute silence in the honour of martyrs of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
While, Rajya Sabha to be adjourned after paying tributes to late parliamentarians including Nagaland People’s Front leader Khekiho Zhimomi and intellectuals Rudra Pratap singh, Ram Kapse and N Rajindran.
