New Delhi: New Zealand (242/9) beat India (236) by 6 runs. Jadhav (41), Dhoni (39), Southee (3/52). 5-match series level 1-1. This is New Zealand’s first win on this tour and their first-ever victory at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi.
Williamson scored his 8th ODI hundred and led from the front reaching the milestone in 109 balls with the help of 13 fours and a six. He lost the company of Ross Taylor in the 31st over to leg spinner Amit Mishra. Taylor made 21 off 42 balls and perished while going for a slog sweep and was caught at deep midwicket by Rohit Sharma. Williamson was joined by Corey Anderson in the middle and the duo took New Zealand score past the 200-run mark
After getting their eye in, MS Dhoni and KedarJadhav upped the ante with Jadhav playing the role of the aggressor early on. He pulled a short delivery from offspinner Mitchell Santner for a maximum and in the same over Dhoni helped himself to a boundary. In Santner’s next over Jadhav went inside out for and earned himself a six and then hit a boundary. The duo managed to score 37 runs in five overs as India reached 134 for four in chase of 243 to win.
India’s rebuilding process after a flurry of wickets was done by skipper MS Dhoni and Kedhar Jadhav as the duo took India to 97 for four after 25 overs. At the same stage New Zealand were 131 for two.
