Gangtok: A Sub-Inspector was shot dead on Friday morning as police raided at Limbo area of Darjeeling to catch Bimal Gurung, the leader of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha who is wanted by the Bengal government over deadly clashes and a 104-day shut down. Bimal Gurung again flew back to Sikkim.
Sikkim government is now under uncomfortable situation. Sikkim Government has been allegedly accused of giving shelter to the Bimal Gurung. In this situation, will Sikkim government ‘Pushback’ Bimal Gurung? This question is being raised among think tanks. The West Bengal police shall not raid in Sikkim to nab the Bimal without their permission.
But Sikkim government is in now dilemma what they do right now? If they giving him shelter then West Bengal may cut all business relationship with Sikkim and this is bad sign for Sikkim development. Now days, Sikkim does not maintain a good relationship with West Bengal in the issue of Gorkhaland. They pass resolution to support Gorkhaland protest. For that reason Sikkim Chief Minister Paban Kumar Chamling has been under pressure that what will do or what no to do.
According to sources, Bimal Gurung is now in South Sikkim. He is surrounded by GLP (Gorkhaland Personal). GLP is trained by the dangerous military group NSCN.
Earlier, in raid a huge cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered which included 9 AK47s, 1,800 rounds of ammunition, 20 gelatin sticks, 1,000 detonators, 1 sophisticated binocular, 1 manpack, 1 Beretta pistol and explosives.
