Birbhum: West Bengal BJP leader Joy Banerjee has sparked controversy by saying that military will overlook the upcoming 2016 Bidhan Sabha polls in the state.
Banerjee addressing a rally in Birbhum district’s Mayureshwar on Sunday accused the ruling Trinamool government of mass rigging in the Lok Sabha polls and said that army will monitor the Bidhan Sabha polls.
When asked about his credentials on determining the poll related procedure subsiding Election Commission, taking his rhetoric to a new level Joy said,” The Election Commision is in our hand and will do accordingly.”
On the other hand BJP state leadership has steered clear of the statement and said it is not the official stand of the party. Joy had given rise to several controversies earlier through his controversial remarks.
