New Delhi: Valson Thampu, Principal of St. Stephens college in Delhi, who has been under fire and constant criticism over the handling of the moslestation case of the research scholar has said that he would resign if it is proven that ‘ he was a cause of embarrassment to the institution.”
The students and various woman rights activists have already taken to the streets demanding the resignation of Thampu. It has been alleged that he had pressurized the victim to withdraw the complaint saying that he had full faith in the Delhi Police.
Thampu, who took over as the Principal of the college in 2008 said, “If I am a cause of embarrassment to the institution and it is objectively proved, I will put in my papers that very moment.”
The victim has alleged that Thampu had tried to shield the professor who had molested her and had approached the police last week with four recordings which she claimed had been made during her meetings with the Principal who allegedly pressurized her to withdraw the complaint.
