Kolkata: Confident of a win in the 2019 elections, BJP National President Amit Shah said, “No matter how much torture you do to us, we will get 22 seats in 2019.”
While speaking to a regional news channel about West Bengal, Shah said, “Our workers are being tortured over there. The law and order situation in West Bengal is worst. But we will carry on our fight.”
Shah will hold a rally at Mayo Road on Saturday. It needs mention that he did visit Kolkata in July, but did not hold any rally.
According to political analysts, a huge change will be witnessed in West Bengal if BJP can bag all the 22 seats. With a tough competition by the saffron party, Mamata’s TMC party will be at an uncomfortable situation in the 2021 Vidhan Sabha elections.
Amit Shah mentioned about the party’s improvement from getting 6% votes in 2013 to
18% in 2018. This three-times increase in the percentage surely did put the present ruling party at an unsecured position.
However, the state BJP did not get permission to fly drones on Amit Shah’s rally on Saturday. The party is still unaware whether they could use walkie-talkie during the programme. The party had sought permission from the Kolkata police for the use of drones due to security reasons. But till Tuesday evening, there was no word from the Kolkata Police.
The Kolkata Police had not granted permission for the rally at Rani Rashmoni Road. Out of the five places as suggested by the party, the KP had chosen Mayo Road. However, the KP had rejected all allegations put by BJP through a tweet. The party is on alert after 100 people were injured when a tent broke during Narendra Modi’s programme. The Centre was not satisfied over the report sent by state party president Dilip Ghosh over the issue.
The decorators, who were given the task of working for Modi’s rally at Midnapore, did not get the work this time fro Amit Shah’s rally. The Kolkata Police will be present at the rally for looking after the security.
