Dhulagarh: Dhulagarh, a town 25 kilometres west of Kolkata, had simmered a few days earlier, following communal clashes that saw people’s houses and shops being targeted and set on fire. This town was on the boil after communal violence spread here reportedly. But a shocking revelation points towards the presence of a reported ‘terror’ angle behind Dhulagarh violence.
The Home Ministry, has pointed out the existence of a terror angle to Dhulagarh communal violence. On December last year, 2 factions got involved in tussle leading to chaos at Howrah’s Dhulagarh. Critics pointed towards the attacks and tortures by a particular group rather than both the factions. Though the state government completely denied any type of violence taking place, the national media’s portrayal of Dhulagarh’s reported violence said differently. This portrayal moved the officials of the central agency to the core such that it led to the centre’s ruling BJP to express grief over this violence. NIA’s conduct of accumulation of several images secretly has revealed some shocking things. If such revelations are proved to be true, then this violence would have a big twist in its tale. The Home Ministry believes that a big terror plot is behind Dhulagarh Violence. They believe that terrorists brought in from terror groups of different countries are behind it. With this primary information, the Home Ministry is prepared to counter this violence by handing the probe over to NIA.
Several incidents last month did not get place in the state news media. But it did hold a good priority in the national media, especially violence related news from West Bengal’s Malda, North Dinajpur, Nadia, North 24 Pargana, Howrah, Hoogly. News of the violence at Dhulagarh had rocked the national media. Though the state government denied such reports, 2 MLAs from the ruling party was warned as per reports. Even a police officer from the Howrah district faced the wrath of the government. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju had even condemned Dhulagarh violence.
Several questions arise. First of all, why NIA is getting the responsibility of probing the matter, in spite of the existence, of several investigating agencies at the national level. According to sources, such type of violence is rare in West Bengal, but such things are happening now and then. They have also revealed that the locals are not behind this violence. The names of outsiders have always been linked with it continuously. Even the locals have never seen these outsiders ever. They have also revealed that one of our neighbouring countries have led to this violence because several slogans such as ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ were raised during Dhulagarh Violence.
As a result, the apprehensions of a terror link become much strong to the agency. They also believe that some outsiders have manipulated the locals to create the communal violence. Thus, the reason, for the home ministry at the center to handover the probe to NIA. But it is yet to be known when it would be handed over.
