West Bengal Students Stand By Flood-Hit Kerala

Haldia: Thousands of people are homeless, while the death toll has crossed 350 already in the flood-hit Kerala. Everyone, starting from the political field, common people to actors-actresses, have lent out their hands for support.

But students of a private English-medium school in Mahishadal set an example by coming out to streets to collect donation for the helpless people in Kerala.

Besides collecting money for the relief fund, these children also donated 50 thousand from their pocket money.

Former teacher and school committee president Haripada Maiti said, ” Our school encourages the students to do social service works apart from studying. The entire year we help the poor people and students. After seeing the situation in Kerala in media, the students were moved. They want to stand by the helpless people. So I welcome their effort.”

Anwesha Saha, a class 11 student, said, “Many small brothers and sisters are passing each day with great difficulty. Our initiative is to support them.”
