Howrah: Various sections of the society including small traders, restaurant owners, transporters etc started feeling the heat as the dependence on cash is very high. Banks are unable to give service as heavy rush making it difficult to handle the situation. Scuffle and heated exchanges were reported from ATMs and banks from many parts of the country.
However, State government owned electricity board WBSEDCL’s profit has increased in this fiasco situation. WBSEDCL claimed that the deposit of bill has increased 60 percent.
West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company (WBSEDCL) is mainly distributing electricity at suburb areas and villages. Official of WBSEDCL’s branch in Borgachia said our Correspondent Souptik Bandhyopadhya that Three to Five lakhs approximately are deposited in account. The branch also said that people of the area get the electricity bill in average Rs 800 to 1000. Now because of lack of the new currency note many of them are in tough position to pay the electricity bill.
However WBSEDCL take a decision to accept pending bills of the previous months. So the consumers have got a new life and paid their dues en masse.
