WB Police Recovers Pipe Guns, 1 Arrested


Kolkata: The West Bengal Police on Monday arrested Dhiren Mandal (37) a resident of Sardanga village of Nadia District from Odisha’s Berhampur area for carrying locally made weapons.

The police has recovered one 12 bore pipe gun, two iron pipe guns and five 7.65 guns from the accused.

Since last few days the detective team was aware that new firearms were being stored in the state border. From then onward they started their surveillance on the Odisha and Jharkhand border area and on Saturday they tightened up the security as they were informed about the illegal weapons. The police personnel on Sunday late night caught Dhiren Mandal red handed from a local bus stand named Mohana.

The police continued their further investigation as they want to clarify about his association with any terrorist group.
