Kolkata: The West Bengal State Election Commission (SEC) will use a special software during the Panchayat elections for better monitoring and immediate intervention, in case of any trouble.
According to a source in the SEC the web-based software will allow to keep complete control of every step of the election process closely, from ballot layout to election reporting.
The Commission will have a control room at his main office at Rawdon Street as well as in the respective districts. The message will reach all control rooms as well.
The election to the state’s local administrative bodies is scheduled to be held on May 14. The poll body had earlier said the elections will be held on three days on May 1, 3 and 5.
The new date triggered allegations from opposition parties that the single-phase voting decision was taken to oblige the ruling Trinamool Congress.
The polling process was earlier stalled after the opposition parties in the state petitioned both the Supreme Court and high court alleging widespread violence and strong-arm tactics by the ruling party throughout the nomination process.
