Kolkata: At least 10 schools were issued show cause notice following allegations of attempt to influence innocent minds through teachings that might promote religious intolerance by the state government on Thursday. 125 other schools have been kept under scanner.
Out of 125 schools, 96 schools did not have a NOC letter from the government. He added that these schools would be taken into custody, reports suggest.
State Education Minister Partha Chatterjee made the statement in the West Bengal Assembly on Wednesday in response to a question by Communist Party of India (Marxist) MLA Manas Mukherjee over such institutions. “We will not tolerate spreading of religious intolerance in the name of teaching students and running schools,” the Minister said.
