Kolkata: Good news for education sector of West Bengal ahead of Durga puja. The Education department of West Bengal allocated cores of funds for several schools to develop infrastructure. Funds allocated for basic requirements of school such as supply of pure drinking water, making extra classrooms and boundaries in 250 schools of West Bengal.
Approx Rs 31 crores fund allocated among 422 schools at Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Malda, Murshidabad, Nadia, North & South 24 pgs, Purulia, Siliguri, East and West Midnapore for making extra class rooms. Rupees 7 crores 52 lacks 82 thousands allocated only for making extra class rooms of Alipurduar, Bankura , Birbhum and Bardhaman districts. RS 4 crores 25 lacks allocated for supplying drinking water to 120 primary schools and 130 high schools of West Bengal and other some development projects.
Earlier, learning a lesson from the brutal murder of a seven-year-old at the Ryan International School, the Bengal school education department has issued instructions to government and government-aided schools asking them to ensure the safety of their students. CBSE and CISCE have also sent out similar instructions to the schools under their aegis.
The state on September 13 had advised schools to stop allowing outsiders into the school compound. In a letter to the district inspectors of schools, the government urged them to put in place a system which will provide complete protection to students in schools. “It is the responsibility of schools to make the child feel comfortable and also throw a safety net around him or her while the child is in the school,” said a source.
