Krishnanagar: West Bengal State BJP President Dilip Ghosh along with State observer Kailsh Vijayvargiya and co-observer Suresh Pujari starts hunger strike in front of Krishnanagar Kotowali Thana, West Bengal on Thursday night to release their supporters who had arrested earlier.
BJP President Dilip Ghosh said that they have given the time to the police to release them. If police don’t release them on 9 pm onward they will start protest.
According to the sources, Police also consent to release them toady after meeting but after few hours later police received a phone call. Then police denied to release them and said that they have been produced in court tomorrow.
Earlier, West Bengal Government by the BJP on Thursday turned violent at Barasat in North 24-Parganas district and at Krishnanagar, headquarters of Nadia district, in which a number of party workers and police personnel received injuries, while some of them were hospitalised.
Police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the agitating workers the agitators led by BJP’s Bengal Co-Observer of Siddharth Nath Singh, who tried to break a police cordon in order to enter the DM office.
In the incident, at least 11 BJP workers and Singh sustained injuries. Singh, who suffered minor injuries in his left hand, was discharged after the first aid at a local hospital, while the others have been admitted for treatment.
State Observer Kailsh Vijayvargiya and state BJP president Dilip Ghosh led another demonstration by party workers at Krishnanagar, where police resorted to lathi charge when the agitators tried to break police cordon. The BJP leaders alleged that 17 of their workers injured in the incident and five hospitalised.
The police, on the other hand, claimed five civic police volunteers were also injured. Alleging unwarranted and barbaric police action, both Mr. Vijayvargiya and Mr. Ghosh sat on a dharna at the incident site.
