WB: 63-Year-Old Man Dies Due To Japanese Encephalitis


Cooch Behar: With the death of another person due to japanese encephalitis, the
death toll has risen with four people dying in the same month. The name of the deceased is Rabicharan Das (63).

Rabicharan passed away at Cooch Behar’s MJN hospital on the wee hours of Friday. He was the resident of Tufanganj’s Nakkatigach area.

According to his family, he was suffering from fever for few days. He was first admitted to the Tufanganj sub-divisional hospital. Then he was shifted to MJN hospital. Then from there he was again shifted to a private hospital. He finally died at the MJN hospital on Friday.

The district health department is worried over the rise in deaths due to japanese encephalitis. Not only have they started awaring people on it, they have also started the killing of mosquitoes.

The district health secretary said that besides japanese encephalitis, at least 45 people are suffering from acute encephalitis in the state. The death toll stands at 10. However, the official claimed that the number has reduced from last year.
