New Delhi: Following the complaints of passengers over the availability of pure drinking water at railway stations, the Indian Railways have decided to set up Water Vending Machines at the railway stations to provide pure drinking water.
The Railways Board has already prepared a guideline for the different Rail zones and the price has also been decided. IRCTC will conduct tender bidding for the project.
According to a railway official, the passengers will get water at railway stations at a very low price. Five litres of water with bottle will cost Rs 25 while only water of the same amount will cost Rs 20.
Two litres of water with bottle will cost 12 rupees while only water of the same amount will cost 8 rupees. Half litre of water with bottle will cost 5 rupees while to fill an empty bottle it will take 3 rupees. 300 ml glasses of water will cost 1-2 rupees.
