Water Crisis: Protest Erupts At Howrah

Howrah: The women of Howrah’s Jhautola have started a protest on Monday, for the non-availability of drinking water.

This incident started on Monday approximately at noon at Howrah’s Ward Number 21. The locals have pointed out that there is no availability of drinking water in Bishesshor Banerjee Lane, since one month, in this scorching heat. No response was received from the concerned authorities. Temporarily the Corporation had arranged for one water-carrying-vehicle. But it cannot suffice the needs of 50 families.

The protest is in progress just to bring the situation under the notice of the authorities. The police arrived but all in vain. The situation remains unchanged. The locals are demanding the intervention of the Mayor of the Corporation. They want assurance from the Mayor in writing.
