Mumbai: Officials probing the Vyapam scam on Thursday said as many as 592 people, including four promoters of private medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh, have been named as accused in the CBI chargesheet.
According to news agency, those listed in the CBI chargesheet include JN Choksey, chairman of LN Medical College; SN Vijaywargiya, People’s Medical College; Ajey Goenka of Chirayu Medical College – all from Bhopal – and Suresh Singh Bhadoriya of Index Medical College, Indore.
A CBI Special Court in Bhopal issued an arrest warrant against the accused persons who were not present in the court today. However, 15 accused who appeared before the court were granted bail on Rs 1 lakh bond each.
It must be noted that the chargesheet was filed in a special CBI court in Bhopal in the case of the Pre-Medical text (PMT) conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board of Vyapam in 2012.
During the time, the test was conducted for selection of students to various medical colleges in the state. Among those named in the chargesheet, around 334 have been identified as candidates, 155 guardians have also been named; 26 officials from four medical colleges are believed to be involved; 22 middlemen and two officers of the department of medical education in the state also find their names in the chargesheet, said the officials.
