Vyapam: CBI Registers FIR on Scribes Death


New Delhi: Widening its probe, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday registered five more cases in the Vyapam Scam including one of murder in the mysterious death of MBBS student Namrata Damor in 2012, taking to 10 the number of FIRs lodged by it and also filed a Preliminary Enquiry in the sudden demise of investigative journalist Akshay Singh.

CBI Director Anil Sinha said the agency has registered five more cases and that it will submit a report to the Supreme Court on the status of its probe. “We will investigate the cases within the manner that has been given to CBI by the Supreme Court. Our job is to investigate and submit our reports to the court and that we will do to the satisfaction of the court,” he told reporters.

Congress has alleged that at least 49 people associated with the scandal have so far died under “mysterious” circumstances. The CBI registered a PE to probe the mysterious death of TV Today reporter Akshay Singh while investigating Vyapam-related developments in Madhya Pradesh.
