Volkswagen Ameo – German automaker’s first compact sedan is all set to hit the showrooms. Ameo made its global debut at the 2016 Delhi auto expo and the bookings have commenced from May 12th. Volkswagen has now revealed variants and features list of the car. Volkswagen also plans to promote ameo through multi-city road show and launch an iOS/ Android app to enable customers to explore Ameo’s features and make the bookings. Ameo will come in two engine options -1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine and 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel mill. While the petrol engine gets a 5-speed manual transmission, diesel ameo will come with a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.
Like other Volkswagen cars, the Ameo will be offered in three variants – Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. While the top end Highline variant will get first-in-class features like rain sensing wipers, cruise control and static cornering lights, ABS and Airbags will be standard across all variants. Other prominent features of ameo includes body-coloured bumpers, ORVM mounted turn indicators, flat-bottom steering wheel, single folding rear backrest and rear fog lamps. Ameo highline would be more feature rich with MirrorLink-enabled touchscreen infotainment system, alloy wheels, reverse camera with parking sensors, electrically foldable ORVMs and one touch front and rear power windows as well as opening and closing of windows with a remote.
The Ameo will be available in five colours – blue silk, reflex silver, toffee brown, candy white and carbon steel. We expect the Ameo range to start with a price tag of Rs5.5 lakhs
