Visva-Bharati Commemorates 78th Death Anniversary Of Rabindranath Tagore


Shantiniketan: On a rain drenched morning of ’22 Se Shrabon’ (4th month of Bengali circle) Rabindranath Tagore died in Kolkata. Visva-Bharati commemorates the 78th death anniversary of the world-poet Rabindranath Tagore on Tuesday.

The rituals have been followed solely with ‘Baitalik’, Reading of Vedic Mantra, Tree-plantation and musical presentation.

The memorial program of Gurudev started at 5am with Baitalik at the Gourprangan. The Upasana Griha was filled with the warm utterance of Vedic mantra and his writtings in several phases, his experience of life and chorus of songs in presence of the Vice-Chancellor Sabujkali Sengupta.

Tagore’s writting, philosophy are the elixir for moving forward in life. On this day, the Visva-Bharati authority launched ‘Gitanjali’ for the blinds. An exhibition has started on the works of Rabindranath Tagore which will showcase the ‘Nighthood’ certificate also.

Sabujkali Sen, Vice-Chancellor of Visva-Bharati in presence of students and the Ashramik offered flower garland in the chair kept in Rabindra Bhavana where Gurudev used to sit regularly.
