Vishwanathan Anand’s mother passes away

Thiruvananthapuram: Chess maestro Viswanathan Anand’s mother Sushila Viswanathan died in her sleep last night. She was aged 79 at the time of. Her last rites will be performed  at Besant Nagar crematorium. She leaves behind her husband K Viswanathan, daughter and two sons of whom Anand is the youngest.

P.R.Venkatarama Raja, President All India Chess Federation, expressed his condolences on the demise of Sushila Viswanathan, lauding her dedicated efforts in making Anand a Champion chess player. Sushila taught Anand the basic moves of the game and accompanied him to various events.
