Vishva Bharti University VCfound involved in financial impropriety


Bolpur: According to the Human resource development Ministry, the fact finding committee of three members has corroborated most of the allegations, including the financial irregularities against Sushanta Dutta Gupta, Vice Chancellor of Vishwa Bharti University.

The report which was submitted to the Ministry on Monday said that Gupta was involved in financial impropriety as he was taking both pension and Salary.

According to a senior Official, “Source for both (pension and salary) is Government of India.”

The committee also found that the VC had not followed procedures in awarding tenders saying that the ‘Rules were bypassed.’

On the allegations of sexual harassment on the Vice Chancellor, they didn’t find any concrete evidence but said that his conduct was suspicious. Gupta was even denied a Padmashri after allegations of sexual harassment cropped up against him.

The HRD Ministry has said that any decision will be taken after analyzing the report.
