New Delhi: A day after former Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi‘s controversial tweet on Kashmir issue created a furore on social media, Indian skipper Virat Kohli has reacted to the controversy saying he cannot comment on the topic till the time he has total knowledge on the topic. Kohli, who has been preparing for the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League, was asked to react to Afridi’s tweet where he termed terrorists as ‘innocents’ and termed the Indian Army’s encounters with hardened and Pakistan-sponsored terrorists as ‘human rights of innocent Kashmiris’ being violated.
“Obviously you want to express what is best for your nation and my interests are always for the benefit of our nation. If anything opposes it, I would never support it for sure. Having said that, it’s a very personal choice for someone to make comments about certain issues.
Unless I have total knowledge of the issues and the intricacies of it, I don’t engage in it. But definitely, it goes without saying that obviously, your priority is to stay with your nation and anything that opposes it, you oppose it as well,” the Delhi cricketer said.
Senior Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir, who is known to take a strong stand on burning topics, earlier slammed Afridi for his tweet.
