Vijayvargiya Appears Before Court For Alleged Provocative Speech


Balurghat: The police has filed a case in the court against BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya accusing him of giving provocative speech.

Lawyer and BJP leader Nilanjan Roy said that the police has filed a fake complaint against Vijayvargiya. He also informed that the hearing of this case is scheduled to begin at 2pm on Monday.

On March, the South Dinajpur district judge had already accepted anticipatory bail for Vijayvargiya in this case. The judge had also directed Vijayvargiya to appear before the lower court within 21 days. Following the orders, Vijayvargiya appeared before the court on Monday before the chief judicial magistrate.

The police had filed a suo motu case against Kailash Vijayvargiya during the Panchayat poll campaign. Vijayvargiya was accused of giving provocative speech and trying to create violence in the area.

Under sections 153/A, 295/A , 298, 509 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the police submitted chargesheet against him in February. 

The case also mentions 4 more other names apart from Vijayvargiya. They are the district’s former three presidents Gautam Chakraborty, Pranab Choudhury, Biswanath Pal and present president Suvendu Sarkar.
