Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday hailed the Supreme Court’s decision after it quashed the land acquisition in Singur by the Buddhadeb Bhattacharya-led CPM government in 2006 for allotting it to Tata to set up its Nano car factory.
“I would expect everyone to celebrate this Singur Utsav, it’s like an invocation of the celebration to Durga Puja,” she said. The Chief Minister announced that Singur Diwas would be observed across the State in every block, panchayat, municipality and ward on September 2, 2016.
She added that an administrative review meeting for Hooghly district would be held at Singur on September 14, 2016, at 2 PM. On the same day a ‘Vijay Utsav’ would be held in Singur at 4 PM.
