VHP Man Cancels Cab As ‘His Driver Was Muslim’

New Delhi: A man, who claims to be a member of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, has tweeted that he had cancelled his Ola cab ride because the driver was a Muslim. The tweet by Abhishek Mishra is going viral.

In response to Mishra’s tweet, OLA said that the company was a secular platform and it does not “discriminate our driver partners or customers”. Notably, Mishra’s Twitter account is verified. Facing flak over his post, Mishra defended himself and posted that it was ‘freedom to choose’.

“People starts attack on me. Can I have no right to choose? If they can run a campaign against Hanuman ji poster on cab, defamed Hindus and Hindus god in Kathua incident then they must be prepared for reply,” said Mishra. On April 20, Abhishek Mishra posted that he cancelled the taxi because he did not want to give money to “Jihadi People”.

He also attached a screenshot of the trip’s cancellation, which showed the driver’s name as Masood Alam. His Facebook profile says Mishra, who hails from Ayodhya, is an active member of VHP and Bajrang Dal. He claims to be working as a Digital Media Advisor in Lucknow. Mishra’s tweet has led to a huge debate on Twitter.
