Veteran CPM Leader Anil Basu Passes Away


Hoogly: Anil Basu is an Indian politician and a former member of the Communist Party. He was re-elected to the Lok Sabha in 1989, 1991, 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2004 from the same constituency.

He was 72 and is survived by wife, a son and a daughter. He had been on dialysis at a private hospital on EM Bypass following kidney trouble.

Born on 7 November 1946, Anil Basu was first elected to the 8th Lok Sabha in 1984 from Arambagh constituency in Hooghly district.
