Sagardwip: Gangasagar is visited by thousands of people from all over the country during Makar Sankranti. Because of better road connectivity both domestic and foreign tourists keep on visiting the area throughout the year.

The State Government and ISKCON will jointly set up a Vedic Centre for Culture and Education at the Gangasagar fairground on Sagar Island to promote spiritual tourism.

The two are also jointly working to build a world-class fountain park, community hall and light-and-sound exhibition to attract visitors. After coming to power in 2011, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has stressed on the need to improve Gangasagar. Roads were built and steps were taken to beautify the area.
