Vandalism During Screening Of ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ In Siliguri

Siliguri: A group of Youth Congress workers on Friday vandalised a cinema hall in Siliguri and thrashed out a handful of viewers who were watching The Accidental Prime Minister, a critical biopic on former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

A group of barely 20-25 Youth Congress workers, equipped with party flags, stormed into the Biswadeep Cinema Hall at Pradhan Nagar in the heart of Siliguri.

Demanding that the matinee show screening of The Accidental Prime Minister should be stopped at once, they resorted to vandalism. There were a handful of viewers who were watching the film inside the hall. The Youth Congress protesters then stormed inside and thrashed the audience out.

Scared by the vandalism, the hall management at once suspended the screening mid-way and, cancelled the night show of the movie. The manager said that they will not screen the film anymore.

Interestingly, although media persons reached the spot and recorded the vandalism by Youth Congress workers, police did not visit the police station. This is even as Pradhannagar police station is barely 300 metres away.

In the absence of the chances of any legal consequences, the leader of the Youth Congress team threatened similar actions if any movie halls in Siliguri screen the Anupam Kher starrer movie.
