Kolkata: BJP state president Dilip Ghosh and the state secretary Sayantan Basu have reached Kolkata with the ashes of the late ‘Bharat Ratna’ Atal Behari Vajpayee after receiving it from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Wednesday handed urns with former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s ashes to party presidents from across the country.
The BJP party will be organising ‘Asthi kalash yatras’ in different states to immerse the ashes in 100 rivers across the country. Meanwhile, the procession has been started in Kolkata. Dlip Ghosh along with other BJP leaders and followers have started the ‘Asthi kalash yatra’ in the city and already they are proceeding straight from airport, following VIP road and then Central Avenue the procession will reach BJP headquarter in 6.
Murlidhar Sen Lane, Kolkata at 8pm. Vajpayee’s ashes will be kept in the state party office and will be open for all the visiters to pay tribute to the late BJP leader.All party leaders, cadres, supporters and sympathizers could pay tribute here.
On Thursday, the State BJP President and other top BJP leaders of Bengal will start for Gangasagar at 8am to immerse Vajpayee’s ashes in Ganga. Before reaching Gangasagar Atal Biharai Vajpayee’s ashes will be kept at Hazra for a while and then will proceed for the immersion in Ganga ata Gangasagar. On this day a small program will be also organised in the memory of Vajpayee.
Earlier,the state BJP general secretary Sayantan Basu said, “The prayer meet will be held on 29 August. But we are unable to fix it yet. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and other political personalities will be invited.”
Meanwhile, the BJP has taken an initiation to translate Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s poems into Bengali. It should be noted that after the demise of the late national leader national mourning was announced across the country. In Kolkata BJP headquarter members, supporters and activists of the party gathered together to pay tribute to the great statesman of the era, all work and activities of the state BJP office were called off to mourn the death of Vajpayee.
