Drone shot down over Syria, US fears Tech. theft


Washington: While flying over Latakia province in Syria, a US unmanned aircraft (UAV) was shot down by the Syrian air defense system.As per the reports the MQ-9 Reaper which was shot down, costs about 13.77 million dollars is used primarily for intelligence gathering and surveillance.
According to an US official it is not yet clear how the aircraft was taken down. He also said that a high level probe has been launched in the accident. The U.S. has developed 104 of the 11-metre aircraft since they were introduced in May 2007.
