New Delhi: Pak High Commissioner Abdul Basit summoned again by Foreign Secretary to present proof of Pakistan’s role in Uri Attacks
India on Tuesday summoned Pakistan’s High Commissioner Abdul Basit and presented evidence on the Uri terror attack on September 18, in which 18 soldiers were killed.
Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar reportedly informed Mr Basit that two guides who helped the Uri attackers infiltrate into Kashmir “were apprehended by local villagers and are now in custody “.
According to the foreign ministry, the two are Faizal Hussain Awan, 20, and Yasin Khurshid, 19, both from Muzaffarabad in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
Pakistan has been told that preliminary interrogation reveals the identity of one of the Uri attackers as Hafiz Ahmed from Muzaffarabad.
India has also provided details that it has gathered on the terrorists’ handlers, who have been identified as Mohd Kabir Awan and Basharat.
The Foreign Secretary told the Pakistani high commissioner that continuing terrorist attacks from Pakistan against India are unacceptable.
