Islamabad: Unidentified gunmen shot dead a local employee of the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad although the motive for the attack is still unclear.
Police have identified the slained employee as Iqbal Baig. He used to work for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency. He was killed early Sunday morning at his home.
The U.S. Embassy did not issue an immediate response over the incident. Pakistani police official confirmed Baig’s slaying. He said that the U.S. Embassy security officials had visited the crime scene.
Baig belonged to a minority Muslim Shiite sect known as the Ismaili. Unidentified Gunmen in May had shot and killed 50 Ismailis in the southern port city of Karachi.
