Srinagar: One person died after few unidentified gunmen opened fire in the main market of Jammu and Kashmir’s Tral at 1.50 p.m. on Friday.
Rafiq Ahmad Bhat alias Dada succumbed to injuries on the way from the SDH Tral to the SMHA Hospital Srinagar, Directorate General K.S. Dhatwalia said.
Earlier on the day mobile Internet services were temporarily suspended in Kashmir to check rumour-mongering after several cases of vigilante violence related to braid- chopping were reported in the Valley, officials reportedly said.
The services were snapped for a few hours during the day, but were restored by evening.
Separatists had also called for protests against braid- chopping incidents. Several groups protested in the Valley over the incidents.
