Udhampur to Jalpaiguri cries on Shuvendu’s demise

Jalpaiguri: From the northern part of the country comes one of the most dreaded and sad news to northern part of Bengal. From Kashmir to Jalpaiguri one phone call spreads gloom in the Roy family. Shuvendu Roy was said to have been martyred in the Udhampur terror attack on Wednesday. Roy is a resident of Dhupguri of Northern part of Bengal. He was said to be in a leave with his family for quite a few days before returning to join the ranks last Sunday. On Wednesday, he was struck by a bullet and have been said to have died by the Border officials. 

One terrorist was also gunned down in the encounter. The joint operation was conducted by the Army, BSF and CRPF. All three hostages were released. Earlier, these terrorists had launched a daring attack on a BSF Convoy, killing 2 jawans and injuring 8 others. This is the second time, Indian security forces have caught any terrorist alive during the attack. Earlier in 2008, Ajmal Kasab was arrested with injuries and later hanged till death.
