Kolkata: Elaborate arrangements by the Bengal Government helped in organising the FIFA Under-17 World Cup matches at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK) in Kolkata without any untoward incident. The arrangements in Kolkata were highly appreciated by football’s world governing body, FIFA as well.
The first match in the city took place on October 8 and the last match, the final, on October 28. Adequate police arrangements were made both inside and outside the stadium to ensure that no chaos took place during the matches.
The Bengal Government made every effort to promote the state on the back of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup. The government laid stress on both online and offline methods to promote the state. The Tourism Department created a special tour package for foreign tourists.
The State Transport Department engaged more than 600 additional air-conditioned buses to help spectators reach and leave the stadium conveniently. Adequate arrangements were made for emergency healthcare needs, also.
