Two top Greepeace officals resign over sexual harassment handling


New Delhi: A top excutive of Greenpeace India has resigned following an internal review of the NGO in connection with two prior sexual harassment cases. Samit Aich, the Executive director of Greenpeace India offered his resignation to Greenpeace India board which was accepted on Wednesday. Programme director Divya Raghunandan has also quit.

The NGO had earlier terminated two of its employees in which one employee was involved in raping another employee  of the organization and the other has been accused of several cases of sexual harassment.

It had also tendered an unconditional apology for the way it handled the alleged sexual harassment case.

The action was taken after a former employee of the Organization took to social networking site last week alleging that she had been raped and sexually harassed by colleagues at Greenpeace India.
