Shillong: Two terrorists were killed in a joint operation by the Army and Meghalaya police at North Garo Hills district of the state on Sunday. The terrorists were ambushed near the Assam-Meghalaya border after the security forces acted on the basis of specific intelligence inputs.
Acting on the intelligence inputs, a special police team and troops from Assam’s 19 Dogra Regiment raided a few hideouts and ambushed the terrorists, according to district SP Ramesh Singh.
On seeing the security forces, the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire to which the forces retaliated killing them. One of the terrorists has been identified as Jimmy alias Laknu. He is one of the most wanted terrorists in the state and was wanted for a number of ambushes on the Meghalaya police.
