Two militants arrested in Assam

Guwahati: The ongoing drive by the security forces in the insurgency hit North East gained momentum as two militants were nabbed by the forces on Friday at Assam’s Morigaon district.

The militants believed to be the cadres of terror outfit TLA (Tiwa Liberation army) had returned to the area three days ago after completing arms training at Dimapur in Nagaland, a police official said.

On May 25, five militants of the outfit, active in Morigaon district bordering Meghalaya, were arrested from Kumarkuchi in neighbouring Karbi Anglong district and Rs 70,000 were recovered from them.

The outfit has been formed about three months ago and during the last two months it has issued extortion notes to businessmen and civil servants posted in the area, Morigaon District Superintendent of Police Ainul Haque said.
