Two Local Hizb Militants Arrested By Army, Police


Srinagar: Two Hizb Ul Mujahideen militants arrested by joint team of government forces at Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, a police officer.

Acting upon a credible input about movement of Hizbul Mujahideen militants in Dugripora, Panzgam area of Awantipora, a joint naka/ MVCP was established at Panzgam railway under pass by 55 RR/ Police Awantipora and 185 CRPF on Tuesday evening and meanwhile at around 19.30 hours 2 persons were spotted going towards Panzgam who were asked to stop but they started fleeing towards village Dugripora but were chased and apprehended and on their search one UBGL thrower 2 hand grenades and some ammunition of AK series was recovered .

They have been identified as Jan Mohammad Sheikh son of Ab Aziz resident of Kaweni Dugripora and Nasir ul Islam son of Shabir Ahmed Shah resident of Panzgam, a senior police officer said.

The duo are affiliated with HM outfit and case under relevant sections of Arms Act has been registered against them in Police Station Awantipora, police said.
